About us

Who We Are

EASUN is a civil society organization (CSO) dedicated to promoting social justice and development in African communities. Based in Arusha, Tanzania, EASUN serves as a regional Learning Centre for civil society development.

For over 30 years, EASUN has strengthened the capacity of leaders and organizations to drive community and organizational transformation. Through training, organizational development (OD) interventions, and coaching, we equip leaders with transformative facilitation skills that foster participatory cultures and sustainable development practices.

Our approach integrates both diagnostic and dialogic methods, ensuring that interventions are contextually grounded and inclusive. EASUN’s training empowers leaders to engage diverse groups, including women, men, and youth, as active participants in community life and development processes.

Vision

EASUN envisions a civil society confidently expressing its values and purpose through ethical practices in leadership styles, organizational culture, activities, and relationships.

Mission

EASUN creates spaces within which leaders learn to build a better history through new ways of thinking and taking ethical action to leverage capacities for empathy, equity, inclusion, and synergy in organizations and communities.

Core Values

  • Aligning action with vision: Our actions and activities are purpose driven and are contributing to the realization of EASUN’s stated goals, aspirations and overall vision
  • Listening with empathy: We listen actively, compassionately, and supportively to understand the emotions, perspectives, and experiences behind words expressed.
  • Respecting diversity: We create environments where women, men, youth, and children are treated fairly, have equal opportunities, and feel encouraged to contribute their unique perspectives and experiences. We foster intercultural competence, to help prevent discrimination or bias.
  • Facilitating self-determination: We empower people to take control of their lives and make decisions that align with their goals, values and preferences.
  • Self & mutual accountability: We perform and relate to one another through high levels of dependability and constancy. We maintain ethical behavior and responsible practices both in EASUN and in the communities we serve.
  • Openness and vulnerability: We create safe spaces and build people’s resilience to express their authentic selves, including their feelings, fears, and insecurities without fear of judgement or reprisal.
  • Generative leadership: We create new possibilities and opportunities for growth where everyone is empowered to make a positive impact and reach their full potential.
  • Openness to learning: We foster a culture of curiosity and adaptability, where individuals are encouraged to seek out opportunities for improvement and embrace change toward achieving our goals.
  • Reflective learning: We are constantly enhancing our self-awareness and understanding of the worlds around us, to improve our generativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Being appreciative: We show gratitude and thankfulness towards others.
  • Mindfulness: We engage in our life and purpose with diligence and without judgement of the moment. We pay attention to our surrounding and calmly seek our different centers where the world speak to us through visible and non-visible realities.
